Wedding Anxiety is Real

Good Morning to all my Happy Couples!

I am sitting here writing out this letter to all my couples who are now 4 months away from their wedding date. I have now reached your level of insanity. It is no lie when your friends and family say that when they planned their wedding they had a whole new level of stress. Even though I am a wedding planner the stress of having my own wedding has finally decided to settle in and cause havoc in my day to day life.

I swear I dream about what could go wrong that's even if I get a wink of sleep. Also, anxiety...oh the anxiety. If you already have anxiety in your life this is just going to make it worse. I remember one day waking up feeling like my heart was going to jump out of my chest and I was in a world of panic. For no reason! So, like any sane bride to be I called my Wedding Planner (yes, I have one). She calmed me down and told me to breathe.

Come to find out subconsciously my body knew something was up. I called to check on my gown arrival date only to find out that my designer had decided without my consent to change the design. Well being in a form of anxiety did not help my reaction. As I sit here now I completely understand when couples go crazy while planning their weddings or the ever so true that BRIDEZILLA moment.

Although I find myself one of the lucky ones. I find a lot of brides come to me stressed beyond belief or venting in those famous Facebook Groups (to plan your wedding) because they don't have a support system. I am very lucky to have a very strong support system.

I immediately vented to my sister in law and she came in like the amazing, strong, inspiring woman she is and saved the day. Enough about me. This is more so an understanding of your feelings. You are not alone we all go through it. Even those of us who plan weddings for a living. I even sometimes have anxiety dreams for my client's weddings. I think the reason anxiety starts setting in is because you have planned for this very special moment in your lives for months and now that it is 4 months, 1 month, 2 weeks, the day of it has finally settled in that yes you will be marrying the man or woman of your dreams. Someone who is your best friend, someone who means the world to you, and because of this you are anxious, and maybe have your occasional meltdown moment.

The best advice I can give here is taking a step back. Reevaluate what this day is about and take a deep breath because in the end you will be saying I Do. In the end no one really knows other than yourself how your day is supposed to be. In the end your guests are there to celebrate the two of you.

For now I am going to take my own advice and take a deep breath and just be happy that in 4 months I will be saying I Do.

Congratulations to all the couples planning their big day! Don't forget to subscribe.
